Joanne and I are thinking to go somewhere interesting that can be accomplished in ode day (e.g. recreation park). If you guys have any good ideas, feel free to drop a line.

Port Jefferson, Long Island
It's a seaport about 1.5 hr (1 hr if no traffic) from the city. The town itself is one of those proto typical Eastcoast small town, with two-story buidlings, small shops, and stone roads. As the name implies, the town is situated next to a gorgeous seaport. a place where some of the extravagant boats on the East Coast are docked. Also, there's ferry that'll take you to Pennsylvania (you can actually drive your car onto it, but I'm not sure how much it'll cost.) My favorite place is this ice cream shop located in the center of the town. 2 dollars (that was 2 years ago, the price may have gone up by now) gets you 2 GIANT scoops of ice creams (their green tea ice team is very good). The town is also not far from many of the beaches in eastern Long Island. All in all, a very nice place for a one-day getaway with a special someone.
Now, now, I'm beginning to sound like a travel book.

Yea..me too. I love the ice cream shop. It is a lot to finish that giant ice cream. The price is close to $3 ($2.75?)now I remember from last year. And the line is always long. Quite a popular place it is.

Thanks for the useful tips.
minidv, if you have some "other" ideas that I don't know it will be useful, such as upstate mini car race, etc.
We'll go with you...let me know when. Let's ask others as well. it would be really fun.
Mini-DV, that's a good idea:) We can definitely plan something together.
In the meantime, Joanne and I are planning to go to these places mainly by ourselves. If you have the directions that will be helpful.
what's the occasion?
The time Joanne and I hang out are usually with you guys (during volunteer work), so it's just nice to bring her out somewhere nice.
try the Chinese botanical gardens, I haven't been there yet.
Mini-DV: You mean the botanical Gardens in Staten Island?
How romantic...... 大米,學著點ㄛ!
Yes it's in Staten Island.
How about spring skiing!! that is a day trip.
