I havn't taught for 5 years. It was an ok start today. Students probably thought I am a very serious man; no smiles or jokes in the lecture.
Few observations from my classes today:
1) I can't talk too long. Need to bring more water tomorrow.
2) so many girls in the class (over 90%)
3) only one Asian (from China) in class, and only one Asian professor in School.
4) It's hard to say something meaningful constantly.
5)I actually start to feel old. There is a generation gap.

No jokes? Impossible.
Mr. Onizuka,
What a great opportunity for you to amaze the American students with Taiwanese bubble tea....
i am sure they will see your true color very soon, mr. onizuka. u will be a good one! drink some water leh...
for how long to you have to stay "meaningful" each time? an hour? 90 minutes?... that's hard, dude! that's why profs create group-activities, discussions, student presentations, warm-up games, in-class exams, whatnot. hey, since you're a psych professor, you could even have 'em investigate their meta-cognitive fluctuations patterns (aka meditation). that should kill a few more minutes for ya.
good luck and have lots of fun with your students!
(i just got my new student roster... looks like i'm gonna have 38 Ss in one class. that's way too many for a language class. boy oh boy, hope they don't all show up. ;)
I think the other t4 members pay a visit in that class and sit with the students. I would be really funny.
wow.. 38 students are a lot. Good luck with that.
my favoriate discussion in class:
"who am I?"
"what's the meaning of life?"
this can kill a good chunk of time.
Wow! how nice!!! Just think that you are all in charge. You are the god for them to get an A in the class. They all should worship you regardless in what ways.!!(wink wink)
"They all should worship you regardless in what ways.!!(wink wink)"
is that some kind of fantasy?
