I am giving a final right now for my personality class. To earn extra credit, they have to write an essay to answer one of the following questions.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you are thinking of neither good nor evil, at this particular moment, what is your original nature?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A monk told Joshu, "I have just entered the monastery. Please teach me."
Joshu asked, "Have you eaten your rice porridge?
The monk replied, "I have eaten."
Joshu said, "Then you had better wash your bowl."
At that moment the monk was enlightened.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two hands clap and there is a sound. What is the sound of one hand?

very philosophically..... I wonder how well your class will perform with these tough Q's
it'd be interesting to see the answers
well, one student said:
"the monk has been living at home with his parents without ever washing dishes, so he was enlightened because he learned that washing dishes would be his new task from now on"
Oh, good lord! It takes courage to actually submit that answer.
And it takes a bit of sadism to give out these as extra credit. Pete :p
What I wouldn't give to have Professor Pete as a teacher :)
