Good old days

I will keep this for my future kids.

------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a little long but stay with it. I receivedthis from someone who is about 45 years old. This isreally too good.?If you are 25 or older you will think this is hilarious!?When I was a kid adults used to bore me to tears withtheir tedious diatribes about how hard things werewhen they were growing up; what with walkingtwenty-five miles to school every morning uphill bothways through year 'round blizzards carrying theiryounger siblings on their backs to their one-roomschoolhouse where they maintained a Straight-A averagedespite their full-time after-school job at the localtextile mill where they worked for 35 cents an hourjust to help keep their family from starving todeath!! And I remember promising myself that when I grew upthere was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch ofcrap like that on kids about how hard I had it and howeasy they've got it!?But... Now that I'm over the ripe old age oftwenty-five, I can't help but look around and noticethe youth of today.

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't knowhow good you've got it! I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet -we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damnlibrary and look it up ourselves! There was no email! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with apen! Then you had to walk all the way across thestreet and put it in the mailbox and it would takelike a week to get the there!?There were no MP3s or Napsters! You wanted to stealmusic, you had to go to the damn record store andshoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around allday to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talkover the beginning and f@#* it all up! You want to hear about hardship? You couldn't justdownload porn! You had to bribe some homeless dude tobuy you a copy of "Hustler" at the 7-11! Those wereyour options! We didn't have fancy shit like Call Waiting! If youwere on the phone and somebody else called they got abusy signal! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxeseither! When the phone rang, you had no idea who wasit could be your boss, your mom, a collections agent, your drug dealer, you didn't know!!! You just had topick it up and take your chances, mister! We didn't have any fancy Sony Play station videogameswith high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari600! With games like "Space Invaders" and "Asteroids"and the graphics sucked ass! Your guy was a littlesquare! You had to use your imagination! And therewere no multiple levels or screens, it was just onescreen forever! And you could never win, the game justkept getting harder and faster until you died! Justlike LIFE!?When you went to the movie theater there no such thingas stadium seating! All the seats were the sameheight! If a tall guy sat in front of you and youcouldn't see you were just screwed! Sure, we had cable television, but back then that wasonly like 20 channels and there was no onscreen menuand no remote control! You had to use a little bookcalled a TV Guide to find out what was on! You werescrewed when it came to channel surfing you had to getoff your ass and walk over to the TV to change thechannel and there was no Cartoon Network! You couldonly get cartoons on Saturday Morning...?d'ya hearwhat I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK, youspoiled little bastards!?We didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heatsomething up we had to use the stove imagine that! Ifwe wanted popcorn we had to use that stupid jiffy popand shake it over the stove like an idiot forever. That's exactly what I'm talking about!?You kids todayhave got it too easy. You're spoiled! You guyswouldn't have lasted 5 minutes back in 1980.

it's so so true...

before going to the retreat, i kept asking Anny if there was going to be air condition. and she said not in the dorms. I told my dad, and he said, back when I was your age, I didn't even know what air condition was! because there wasn't any!!!

Reading is good:)

I hope your retreat was fine. It's a nice intro to what meditation is about. A good way to gain personal growth:)

Agree, too much to read. Did you write this yourself, or it's another cut and paste? If you wrote, maybe I will spend the time to read it.....
